Long Time, No Blog. Sorry I've Been Reading

Hey, welcome back to my blog! It's been quite a while since I've blogged but I have a great book to tell you about today. When I started my blog my readings goals were quite simple: read more non-fiction and AP titles, average at least an hour of reading each day, and complete thirteen books by the end of the school year. I'm currently averaging an hour or more every day and I'm enjoying every single moment of it. It's now so simple to pick up a good book instead of my phone. I am reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak which has been my longest book and my favorite book I've read all year.

The Book Thief takes place in the fictional town of Molching, Germany in the midst of World War II. The book is narrated through the eyes of Death, and it tells the story of Liesel Meminger's life growing up in Nazi Germany and the beauty tragedy can bring. Even though I am not quite finished reading the novel, the book has caused me to rethink life and the things it has t…

Another Day, Another Book

Hi there, welcome back to my blog! In the beginning of the semester, my goal was to read 13 books and now I have just finished my 9th book. Another one of my primary goals was to finish reading more AP titles and more non-fiction books. I'm still averaging at least an hour of reading every day and I couldn't be more stoked about it. And I was especially super excited to have finished my second AP title of the year  A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.

A Thousand Splendid Suns takes place in Kabul during Afghanistan's 30 years of ongoing war. The book tells the story of Mariam and Laila's lives, who are brought together through war and separated by fate and their struggle to survive. After reading this book, I have learned many new things about the Islamic culture and have taken away many lessons from finishing this book.

My parents have always told me to find perseverance in adversity but I never understood what they meant by it. It's a saying that I will al…

Get To Know Me

Hi! My name is Angie Ho and I'm currently a 10th grade student attending Hebron High School and reading and I have a rocky love-hate relationship. I fell in love with reading at a young age, I remember falling in love with the Magic Treehouse series, the Adventures of Geronimo, and the Junie B. Jones books (gosh, I loved her the most). As I grew up and began to go to middle school, reading was never on my mind, as a matter of fact I despised reading. I lost that special connection with books as I had when I was a child. But now, as a sophomore in highschool, I've rekindled my love for reading. I remember the first book I read this year, it was The Female of Species by Mindy Mcginnis, it's still my favorite book of all time (10/10 would recommend). Mice of Men, the Legend series, and This Is The Way It Ends are just a few of the books I have truly enjoyed reading.

My reading goal this year is to read 13 books of all types of genres and difficulties. I'm averaging about …
